The Moon’s Magnetic Pull: Why You Feel It in Your Body, Mind and Soul

The Moon And Your Energetic Field

As I go deeper into my self-discovery journey which is deeply rooted in exploration of the body and mind, I can’t help but notice how my body has become much more attuned to the Lunar cycles, and I dive even deeper with the blog post.

A Soft Science & Spirit-Based Look at Lunar Energy

There is a reason why the Full Moon makes people pause, dream, or feel deeply. Why sleep gets disrupted, why emotions swell, and why your intuition feels razor sharp… or completely overwhelmed.

This isn’t just a mere coincidence.

It’s deeply energetic, biological, and spiritual.

We Are Water: The Moon Moves Water

The Moon’s gravitational pull affects the ocean tides on Earth through something called tidal force. It draws water toward it, shifting, lifting, and pulling waves across the globe.

And we, as humans, are about 60-70% water.

If the Moon can move entire oceans, it can surely stir the waters within us.

Many ancient healing systems: Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Indigenous earth-based practices, understood this long before science began catching up. The Moon doesn’t just move water… it moves energy.

You’re an Energetic Being in a Rhythmic Universe

The Moon emits electromagnetic frequencies. These are subtle but real, and they interact with the human biofield also known as aura; the electromagnetic field that surrounds your body.

When the Moon is full or waxing, its energetic field intensifies. And if you’re energetically sensitive, emotionally attuned, or in a process of inner awakening, you’ll feel that intensity in your body.

It may show up as:

  • Tingling or pulsing in the chakras
  • Emotional waves (especially grief, nostalgia, or clarity)
  • Restlessness or wild vivid dreams
  • The sudden urge to declutter, cleanse, or cry

You are not “crazy.” You’re tuned in.

The Sleep + Hormone Connection

There’s scientific research showing that melatonin levels dip during the full moon. Melatonin governs your sleep-wake cycle and is tied to your emotional regulation.

A lunar-induced melatonin drop can result in:

  • Poor or disrupted sleep
  • Increased anxiety or irritability
  • Fatigue and fogginess
  • Craving for alone time or inner retreat

This is why resting and recalibrating during the days leading up to the full moon, especially 5–7 days before, is such a powerful practice of honoring yourself.

The Moon is a Mirror

The Moon as a mirror. Unlike the Sun, which creates its own light, the Moon reflects the Sun’s rays. In the sky and symbolically, the Moon doesn’t shine, it reflects.

And this is what makes her such a powerful force of illumination.

She reflects:

  • The parts of you that are hidden in shadow
  • Emotions you’ve stored in the body
  • Desires you’ve denied or forgotten
  • Truths you’re ready to face
  • Wisdom buried beneath the noise

Each lunar phase holds a different mirror:

  • New Moon: a blank mirror reflecting your potential and what you want to invite in.
  • Waxing Moon: a magnifying mirror showing your hopes and resistance as you build.
  • Full Moon: a spotlight mirror reflecting what needs to be seen, released, or celebrated.
  • Waning Moon: a clearing mirror, helping you let go of what you’ve outgrown.

You don’t need to “do” anything during a moon phases. Simply being with what arises, without judgment, is enough. The Moon teaches us how to be in rhythm, not in control.

You Are a Lunar Body

You rise and fall. You grow and release. You dream and reflect.

Your body is not separate from the Moon, the stars, or the tides. It responds to them in rhythm and in wisdom.

So next time you feel a wave of exhaustion, a surge of emotion, or a flicker of insight before a Full Moon, this is your reminder that you are not broken, lazy, or “off.”

You are in tune.

You are a vessel of light and water, learning to flow with the moon, not fight against it.
